We have a dear friend Joan Baca who we have meet through Kiwi Lane. When we meet her we found out about her daughter that had just finished Chemo and then shortly after she announced the sad news that her son Kyle now had to undergo the same process as his sister. Our hearts just went out to them. We want to help Kyle reach his goal to get his wish to travel to the Bahamas. He deserves it!!! Feel free to read their story and please follow the link at the end of this post to donate what you can around this Valentines! Every cent counts!
Their Story:
Our daughter Kate, was diagnosed with an cancerous brain tumor called an anaplastic ependymoma in December 2007 when she was 11 years old. After surgery, she couldn't walk alone or swallow safely, so we transfered to a university medical center for acute rehab. She progressed very well there and was released 5 days early. She underwent 33 radiation treatments. Her wish was to go to the big island of Hawaii, which we did in June 2008.
Kyle was diagnosed September 8, 2010 after my husband took him to the pediatrician because he was pale and had a low temperature. Initial tests indicated he had ALL, acute lymphcytic leukemia. Later test results showed him to be a "rapid responder", which is a blessing. He was eventually classified as standard risk- low (also a blessing). He will receive a total of 3.5 years of chemotherapy. His wish is to go to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. We know first hand how much children look forward to getting their wish. It serves as the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel" while they undergo treatment. -Joan Baca

I would suggest they contact Make A Wish foundation.
They are all working on fundraising for Make-A-Wish. Click on the link above to see their progress. Both Kate and Kyle as well as both parents have been fundraising for Make-A-Wish for 3 years now.
