October Calendar Topper

The Holidays are coming...and this month is one of my favorites!  I love everything that comes with Halloween and after 8 kids, we're getting pretty good at it!  Now I have a whole bunch of grandkids to enjoy as they decorate their homes and porches with pumpkins and witches and ghosts and webs...and as they decide what they want to be for Halloween.  So, of course, for my October Calendar topper, I picked Halloween as my theme!

This Calendar was so fun to design!  I used some Halloween paper that I had left over from last year - My Mind's Eye - and it worked great!  I used the following designer template sets in my design:

Spook Alley, Strips, Halloween, Adventure, Tags, Tiny Tags, Tiny Holiday, Tiny Nature and Photos.

I had a lot of fun with the pumpkins from the Halloween and Tiny Holiday Accessory sets.  I used a crimper to add some texture to the larger pumpkin and then layered them together, adding leaves and a star to go with the star theme in the paper.  

Next I used two tags that reminded me of tombstones, one from the Tags set and one from the Tiny Tags set.  It's a simple embellishment, but really added a fun touch to this design!  

I pulled the same paper down to the Month space and added some punch-out stars from the paper line and Thickers letters for OCTOBER...in a really cute green color, which pops!

It all came together beautifully and the family photo from one Halloween was the perfect finishing touch!  I hope you'll take the time to create your own Halloween Calendar!

Alright. So I had this grand Ideas to make this layout again using halloween paper instead...since it is October, but life got in the way. Although this paper is not my favorite it does have 10 pictures on it!

Picture Perfect Winner

 Here is a Layout sample using the same paper line from the prize bundle that Shiloh designed! I just love this page! I love how she used the balloons from the Celebrate set to make hot air balloons, and if you take a close look you can see how she did a 3D image with her photo...by having the balloon coming out the top! LOVE IT!  

July Title Fight

This is an old Layout of mine but one of my favorites! I thought we could use it as the inspiration for this months Title Fight. The theme is going to be "Summer". Get busy and create a layout with a summer theme and title. Once done, upload it to Facebook for your chance to win a paper pack by Authentique! July Calendar

This month's Calendar is focused on the Fourth of July...one of my very favorite holidays and one where I take a ton of pictures! For my July Calendar, I used Large Brackets, Cascade Trails, Happy Trails, Tags, Celebrate, Tiny Accents, Strips and Photos. The paper is My Mind's Eye and the pictures are of my grandson, Eli - Susan's little boy. Designed by Debbie Budge

Design by Numbers - Using #3

The Best Memory - Designed by Debbie Budge

This month's Design by Numbers Challenge is to use only templates with a #3 on them! You can design a layout, card or project using any #3 from any DT set you have...or borrow from your friends or family! Remember, you can use any of the photos, mini photos or photo mats, or any of the strips...the number doesn't matter on those. 

I had these beautiful pictures of my daughter, Rachel, that I wanted to scrapbook...and I'm so glad I did! I used My Mind's Eye Nostalgia paper and the following templates: Sunnybrook Lane 3a3b, Abbie Road 3a3b, Floral 3, Sweetheart 3, Tiny Floral 3T, Tiny Sweetheart 3T, Tiny Wildflower 3T, Journey 3, Tiny Shapes 3T, Tiny Brackets 3T, Tags 3, and Tiny Tags 3T. I used two punch-outs from the paper kit for the title and misc buttons, brads and flowers to add a little extra touch.

I layered the Floral 3 and Sweetheart 3 to make an adorable flower accessory and I used the Tiny Shape 3T as the middle. I tucked a little Tiny Bracket 3T below it and then finished off with the layered Tag 3 and Tiny Tag 3T.

On this page I used the tiny sizes of the same flower templates used on the other page...Tiny Sweetheart 3T and Tiny Floral 3T. I love how that balanced the two side of the complete layout. I used Tiny Wildflower 3T as to give the feeling of a leaf. Then I took the Journey 3 suitcase template and turned it into a camera by trimming off the two little feet and adding the Tiny Shape 3T circle to the middle. So easy and so cute! It was a perfect embellishment for these pictures because Rachel just held a camera and snapped pictures of herself.

Design by Numbers is a Facebook Challenge on our Kiwi Lane Facebook Page and this month's prize is a pair of one of our favorite Tim Holtz Scissors!  They are one of our favorite scissors to use with our Designer Templates!! So be sure to submit your layouts, cards or projects for a chance to win!  You'll have a week to enter and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, July 3rd!!

1-2-3 Easy!

This layout, designed by Debbie Budge, was made using Chestnut Drive 2a2b, Abbie Road 2a2b, Tiny Tag 2T, Rings 2, Adventure 2, 1/2" Strip, Photos and Photo Mats. I used the Simple Store Awesome Paper Kit that is coming soon to our Shop!

When I pulled all the #2 templates out to look at before designing, I saw immediately that it would be really easy to use the flowers and brackets and scallops to make an adorable girl layout! But I had these fun pictures of my son, Matthew, just enjoying a sunny day in the park, so I decided to go with a boy layout instead. It's great that you can do both with this month's challenge! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

TIPS:Try extending your borders. You will notice that the border on You make me smile extends out pass the photos to give them a nice background to lay on. I also love how Kristy used the same boarder but back to back to create trails going along her page.

Photo Arrangements: Also have fun with placements of pictures. There are many ways to design a layout using 4 pictures. Try a row of pictures along your page. Or maybe you even want to incorporate a 5x7 of your favorite picture with 3 smaller ones! Have fun!

cK Challenge

So I just happen to be checking in on facebook today to see if one of my dear friends had her baby yet or not. and I saw this 1 hour challenge from CK so I thought I would give it a try. Challenge. Here Anyhow it was a rush to get it done in an hour. Good thing it was Eli's nap time. The photos did not get matted because I ran out of time and the page could use a couple more embellishments??? or not??? but It was fun to take the challenge and get a page done today. And I learned that I have a lot of pink ribbons (for girls) but not a lot of colors that work for a boy layout. I might just have to get a couple more ribbons to have on hand when needed. Anyhow I will take better pictures but I needed to get it uploaded to meet the deadline since it would not upload on their gallery for some reason.

Oh and I just checked back on facebook...and she had her baby within that hour as well. It is amazing what you can get done in an hour when you put your mind to it! LOL

April Title Fight
